Writing a personal bio runs somewhat counter to my general disposition. Finding the right pronoun is even tough. So I hope that you'll see this as the briefest of peeks at the work I'm pursuing currently. To sum up what I've always done, I write stories. And I'm now working on a big ol' true one that encompasses my ancestry, my love for sleuthing around in a complicated mix of perspectives, and a whole lot of hidden history just aching to be discovered. But in terms of straight logistics, I live in Seattle with my fascinating wife and
inspiring daughter. We have no pets. In the past year, I coached my daughter's tee-ball team to a perfect record (no wins, no losses, and fourteen ties, without a single injury). I've been a journalist, a novelist, and a committed whatever-comes-up-ist. My current book's research recently sent me to China (yes, THAT China) and numerous states in the Upper Midwest and Western United States. 2012 will feature continued travels, including a trip to Scandinavia and throughout North America. That's about all I can offer for the time being - I don't give away things for free. But check my blog for hearty chunks of the evolving book. Or at least clues to when those chunks might become available in other forms.
